We, sisters, have really loved implementing new habits in 2020 with our community. In January we did a gratitude practice where we challenged everyone to write down 5 things you are grateful for every day. I have continued this ritual, and it has become a meaningful part of my morning routine. In February, I asked you to join me in choosing “positive intent” in one relationship in your life. We had such incredible feedback and I really believe this habit can be life changing. Now it’s March and we are ready to tackle a new habit! Who is with me?
Our Habit for March
This month our chosen habit is to read 10 pages a day. We don’t want to specify or put parameters around what to read, but I would encourage you all to choose a book, non fiction or fiction, electronic or an actual soft cover or hard book. Why did we choose this habit? Well, if you’re anything like me, when there’s down time during the day or right before I go to bed at night I am so tempted to mindlessly scroll on my phone. My vice is Twitter. Yours may be another social media site. This mindless scrolling is fueling my addiction to my phone, giving me more blue light exposure and doing nothing positive for my brain. In fact research shows that it is having negative effects. So we thought why not try to spend this time reading instead?!
Facts
Did you know if you read on average 10-20 pages a day that will take you to about 300-600 pages a month which is translates to 2-3 books a month? I read this, and it blew me away! So, sisters, let’s commit to reading 10 pages a day for the rest of March (sorry we’re a bit late with this challenge) and see if we can create this habit together!
Don’t Forget
My sister, Jess, shared an article on our Like a Sister Facebook page about not feeling guilty if you want to abandon a book that you started but don’t love. I’ll share the link here. Personally, I want this to become a ritual I love and so enjoyment will be a factor in making that happen. https://hackernoon.com/everything-i-knew-about-reading-was-wrong-bde7e57fbfdc?fbclid=IwAR1yQSUFrvunpUK6QyuuImso_wO_Dt8QRLmC5EbF4R0AM6aSsfrxmVK0gr0 The goal is 10 pages a day, and we want you to enjoy those 10 pages, so if you’re not loving what you’re reading, abandon ship and choose something else!

I believe it’s helpful to have something tangible to help track habits and hold ourselves accountable. I’ve read that if you skip one day, it’s ok as long as the next you get back into the habit. One day “off” leads to two which leads to three. Our hope is that this printable will help you to stay on track.
Now let’s read!
